The ELC believes that parents are the first educators of their children and that society has a responsibility to support them in this role. The Family Support Program works with families who are facing challenges in their day to day lives. Parents are given the opportunity to build on their strengths, increase their ability to parent and realize their potential.
Families who participate in the Family Support Program receive regular home visits and are encouraged to attend group programs offered at the ELC. Participation in this program may be long or short term, depending upon need. Referrals to other agencies are also part of this program. Issues that are addressed through the program may include:
  • Child and parent physical and mental health issues
  • Nutrition
  • Budgeting
  • Housing
  • Education and job training
  • Family violence
  • Employment
  • Addictions
  • Loneliness and isolation
Participation in the Family Support program is on a voluntary basis.
